There is no polite way to respond to the generosity of others. No, never, in any situation.

I think I dog food, blankets, etc. only say PET sticks, I would be grateful, rather than the "normal" gifts of products that can be used to bring in our local shelter - like a bag of dog or cat food, pet coverage, etc., etc., and allow a better answer.
